Lock Up Mews Direct Reviews

Emma & Pete - June 2026 — Lock Up Mews is an absolute gem — a beautifully modernised studio that punches well above its weight. We used it as a base for exploring the North Pennines and the walk up to Hareshaw Linn waterfall was a complete highlight. The location along the quiet lane is perfect — peaceful but right in the heart of Bellingham. So stylish and comfortable for two. Chris was incredibly responsive. We loved every minute.

Derek - June 2026 - I booked Lock Up Mews for a week of walking in the North Pennines and couldn't have been happier. The studio is compact but very cleverly designed — everything you need without any clutter. The bed is wonderfully comfortable after long days on the fells. I had great food at the Cheviot Hotel most evenings, and the railway carriage tearoom became my morning ritual. A truly special little hideaway. Thoroughly recommended.

Sian & Rhys - June 2026 — We had no idea Northumberland was this beautiful! Kielder Water blew us away — we hired kayaks and spent a whole day out on the reservoir. Lock Up Mews itself is really smart and modern, very clean and cosy for two. The smart TV was great for winding down in the evenings. Free parking just a short walk away was really handy. Such good value for a well-located, stylish base. We'll be back!

Patricia - May 2026 - I came to photograph the dramatic North Pennines landscape and Lock Up Mews was the ideal solo retreat. It's quiet, private and perfectly situated in Bellingham. The apartment feels fresh and well thought out — those oversized armchairs are wonderfully comfortable for editing photos in the evenings. I visited Kielder Observatory for a stargazing session under the darkest skies I've ever experienced. Simply breathtaking. Chris is a superb host.

Tom & Liz - May 2026 — We wanted somewhere special but fuss-free for our anniversary and Lock Up Mews delivered perfectly. The studio has a really romantic feel — clean, modern and quietly luxurious. We had a wonderful dinner at the Riverdale Hall Hotel, walked the riverside path along the North Tyne and spent a morning at the charming railway carriage tearoom. Such a gorgeous part of England. A thoroughly indulgent and memorable weekend away.

Callum - April 2026 - Bellingham is an outstanding base for Kielder Forest's trail network and Lock Up Mews is perfect for a solo adventure trip. The studio is neat and practical — everything you actually need, nothing you don't. Parking nearby was easy for the van. After big days on the trails I was very grateful for that comfortable double bed and the smart TV. Grabbed hearty dinners at the Rose & Crown. Brilliant, no-frills, great value.

Faye & Nicola - April 2026 — Two friends desperately in need of fresh air and countryside calm — Lock Up Mews delivered exactly that. Tucked down a quiet lane but steps from the village, it's perfectly placed. We walked up to Hareshaw Linn on the first day and were genuinely awestruck. Lovely lunches at the Cheviot Hotel and long evenings with Netflix and a bottle of wine in those gorgeous big armchairs. Completely recharged. Thank you, Chris!

Alan - March 2026 - The North Tyne around Bellingham offers superb fly fishing and Lock Up Mews is the ideal base for a solo fishing trip. The apartment is immaculate, comfortable and very well equipped — exactly what you want to return to after a full day wading the river. I ate at the Riverdale Hall Hotel one evening and had an excellent meal. Chris was outstanding — replied immediately to every message. I'll certainly be booking again next season.

Jess & Matt - March 2026 — We were so pleased to find somewhere that genuinely welcomes dogs at no extra charge — our spaniel Biscuit can be picky about new places but settled in immediately! The studio is stylish and spotlessly clean. Bellingham has brilliant dog-walking right from the door and the hills above the town are wonderful. We visited Kielder Water for a long walk around the reservoir — absolutely stunning. A perfect couple-and-dog retreat.

Robert - February 2026 - I booked Lock Up Mews for a quiet week to finish a writing project and it was exactly what I needed. The studio is calm, private and set along a peaceful lane — no noise, no distractions. The kitchen has everything you need for self-catering and the Wi-Fi is reliable. I took long afternoon walks up into the hills to clear my head and treated myself to evenings at the Cheviot Hotel. Productive, restorative and beautiful. Perfect.
