Eider Cottage Direct Reviews
Helen & Geoff - September 2026 — September is a brilliant time to visit Northumberland, and the cottage made a great base. The crisp mornings walking along St Cuthbert’s Way were fantastic. The house itself was spotless and comfortable—the king bed in particular gave us a proper good night's sleep. Coming back to a warm living room in the evenings was lovely.
The Taylor Family - September 2026 — Had a really good early autumn break with our toddler. The cottage is very practical for families—cosy, clean, and everything is close by. Having our own parking spot right outside saved a lot of hassle with the buggy and bags, and being two minutes from the harbour meant easy morning strolls. Had a nice meal at the Bamburgh Castle Inn as well.
Kieran - September 2026 — Spent a week up here focusing on coastal wildlife and photography. Budle Bay was packed with birds, and the views across to Lindisfarne on a clear morning were brilliant. Eider Cottage was warm, dry, and comfortable to head back to after a cold day on the coast. Having private parking for the car and gear was a big plus. Thanks to Chris for being so helpful.
The Davies Family - August 2026 — A really solid choice for an August holiday. Seahouses was busy, but the cottage felt quiet and tucked away. The twin room worked brilliantly for the kids, and having blackout blinds meant everyone actually slept in. The boat trip to the Farne Islands to see the seals was the highlight of the week for all of us. Couldn't ask for much more.

The location in Seahouses is spot-on—we walked everywhere in town, from getting seafood on the harbour front to evening walks along Beadnell Bay. It was nice to just sink into the sofas with the TV after long, sunny days on the coast. Chris kept in touch and check-in was seamless.
Liam & Sam - July 2026 — A cracking coastal break. We used the Ocean Club Spa pass after long days of paddleboarding and exploring the paths up to Bamburgh. Eider Cottage is nicely decorated and feels surprisingly spacious. Cooking dinner in the kitchen/diner was easy enough, though we ended up grabbing fish and chips by the harbour most nights anyway. We'll definitely come back.

The place is dead comfortable, and the blue sofas were great for collapsing on after a full day out at Budle Bay. Harbour’s only a couple of minutes on foot. Chris was very helpful throughout, and we’re planning to come back in the spring for the terns.
