Fiona & David — September 2026 September is a magical time to visit the valley—the autumn colours were just starting to show on the hillsides. The living room at Castle Hill View gives you a front-row seat to the landscape, and coming back to a warm, fire-lit cottage after crisp afternoon walks was absolute heaven. Everything was spotless and beautifully presented.

The Davies Family — September 2026 We stayed for a week with our toddler and dog, and it couldn't have gone smoother. The village is so peaceful, with plenty of gentle river walks right from the doorstep that kept both the dog and the buggy happy. The cottage is compact but never felt cramped, and having laundry facilities on-site made travelling with a young family much easier.

Graham — September 2026 A superb autumn break. I came up for a few days of fly fishing on the North Tyne and a round of golf, and Castle Hill View served as the perfect base camp. The kitchen had every utensil you could need to cook a proper dinner, and the whole place was immaculate. Chris provided detailed instructions before arrival, making check-in totally effortless. Highly recommended.

Laura & Pete — August 2026 August in Northumberland is glorious, and staying right in Bellingham made it even better. We loved being able to pop out to the local bakeries in the morning and stroll back for coffee while taking in the views. The cottage stayed lovely and comfortable despite the warm weather, and the bed was easily one of the most comfortable we’ve slept in on holiday.

The Harrison Family — August 2026 An unforgettable summer holiday for our family. The kids loved the bunk room and couldn't get enough of the dark sky stargazing trip we booked over at Kielder. Having the Co-op and local tearooms within two minutes' walk made managing meals and snacks so stress-free. Chris is an exceptional host who has clearly put a lot of care into this property.

Mark & Sam — August 2026 Brought our mountain bikes up for a long Bank Holiday weekend on the Kielder trails. Having free parking right at the door made loading up the gear each morning completely seamless. The cottage itself feels surprisingly high-end inside—big comfortable sofa, great TV setup for relaxed evenings, and power showers that were very welcome after a muddy day on the tracks.

Gary & Sarah — July 2026 Castle Hill View was the ideal launchpad for our summer trip to Northumberland. The days were long and warm, so we made the most of the nearby trail routes before retreating back to the cottage in the evenings. Having a quiet, cool living room to kick back in after a 15-mile hike was pure luxury. Chris checked in via message to make sure we had everything we needed—top-tier hospitality.

The Taylor Family — July 2026 We spent a fantastic week here with our two teenagers. Between water sports at Kielder Lake and day trips out to the coast, there was plenty to keep everyone busy. The cottage layout works brilliant for a family—the kitchen is well equipped for cooking evening meals, and the WiFi had no issues handling multiple devices in the evenings! A great stay all round.

Dave — July 2026 I booked a solo week away for a mix of hill walking and reading, and Castle Hill View delivered on all fronts. It's rare to find a place that feels both rustic and properly comfortable, but the decor and original beams hit the mark. Bellingham itself has a great community feel—friendly locals in the shops and a decent pint down at the pub. I'll definitely be making this an annual trip.

Rachel & Mark — June 2026 What a fantastic spot for exploring the Pennine Way. The walk up to Hareshaw Linn waterfall right from the village was easily a highlight for us. Castle Hill View itself is cosy, beautifully finished, and the original ceiling beams give the living room so much character. Waking up to those views across the valley was brilliant. Chris was a brilliant host from start to finish—we’ll definitely be back.

They loved the bunk room, and having the living space upstairs meant everyone actually had room to unwind after a full day out. We spent a day over at Kielder Water, and stopping at the old railway carriage tearoom for cake was a hit with all of us. Having everything in the village right on the doorstep made life so easy. 5 stars from us!

Jim — May 2026 Spent a week walking around Bellingham and couldn't have picked a better place to stay. The cottage was spotless, warm, and the double bed was a welcome sight after a long day out on the fells. Picked up a couple of great lunches at the Cheviot Hotel down the road, and Chris was always quick to answer any questions I had. Excellent all round.

Zoe & Dan — May 2026 Bellingham is a brilliant base if you're into off-road cycling. We spent days out in Kielder Forest, and being able to park right outside the front door made loading and unloading the bikes completely painless. Coming back to a warm, comfortable space with big sofas and Netflix was ideal after hours on the trails. Also had a great meal at Riverdale Hall Hotel. Highly recommend.

Carol & Judith — May 2026 We were looking for a quiet break in the countryside, and this hit the mark completely. Spotting deer and birds from the living room window while having morning tea was a highlight, as was our trip up to Kielder Observatory for a stargazing session—the dark skies up here are incredible. The cottage is warm, full of character, and Chris looked after us so well.

The cottage layout is really practical, and having the Co-op practically next door was a lifesaver when we ran out of milk and nappies! Stuart — April 2026 Bellingham is a great little spot. I got a round in at the local golf club—fantastic views across the course—and had two great days fly fishing on the North Tyne. The cottage was clean, comfortable, and the kitchen had everything needed to cook properly. Topped it all off with a pint and a pie at the Rose & Crown. Couldn't ask for much more.

Helen — April 2026 I booked a short stay to paint and photograph around the Pennine Way, and the early morning light around Bellingham didn't disappoint. Castle Hill View was a wonderful place to unwind; the upstairs living room with the beams and valley views made a perfect makeshift studio in the evenings. The staff at the railway carriage tearoom were lovely, too.

Ben & Chloe — March 2026 Our first time visiting this area, and we fell in love with it. The walk up to Hareshaw Linn is stunning, and Hadrian's Wall was an easy 40-minute drive for a day trip. Castle Hill View felt much more stylish and modern inside than your typical rural rental. We had dinner at Riverdale Hall one evening and have already told a few friends they need to book a weekend here.

Norman & Jean — March 2026 Finding places that genuinely welcome dogs (without charging a fortune in extra fees) can be tricky, but Castle Hill View was spot on. Our collie, Bobby, had the time of his life on the local walking routes. The cottage was warm, pristine, and the afternoon tea at the railway carriage in the village became a daily habit. We're already planning a return trip for the summer!
