Eider Cottage Direct Reviews
Sarah & Tom - June 2026 — Absolutely perfect for a wildlife break on the Northumberland coast. Eider Cottage lives up to its name — we spotted eiders right from the harbour! The cottage is beautifully furnished with those gorgeous blue sofas to collapse into after a day's birding at Budle Bay. The harbour is literally a two-minute walk. Chris was a brilliant host. We'll be back in the spring for the tern season.
The Henderson Family - June 2026 — We had the best family holiday here. The kids loved watching the fishing boats from Seahouses Harbour and we took a brilliant boat trip out to the Farne Islands to see the puffins — absolutely unmissable! The cottage is spotless and surprisingly spacious. Grab fish and chips from Pinnacles on the harbour front — they were a massive hit with the children. Highly recommended for families.
Margaret - June 2026 - I came for a quiet week of coastal walking and Eider Cottage exceeded every expectation. The king bedroom is wonderfully comfortable with those blackout blinds ensuring a perfect sleep after long days on the St Cuthbert's Way. I enjoyed lovely lunches at the Olde Ship Inn, which has wonderful seafaring character. The village is charming and completely walkable. I felt utterly at home.
Jake & Priya - May 2026 - We're always chasing good food on our breaks and Seahouses didn't disappoint. Eider Cottage itself is styled beautifully — very Instagrammable! We ate at the Bamburgh Castle Inn just up the road and had incredible sandwiches at the Copper Kettle. The kitchen/diner is great for cooking in too. The spa access at the Ocean Club was a lovely bonus. One of our favourite UK weekends ever.
David - May 2026 - Superb base for cycling the Northumberland coast. Private parking for the car and bike was really handy, and the location right in Seahouses means you're on the coastal routes within minutes. Cycled up to Bamburgh Castle and back along the beach road — stunning. After the saddle, the sofas and smart TV felt very well earned. Spotlessly clean cottage. Chris responded instantly to every message.
Gill & Anne - April 2026 — Two friends treating themselves to a proper walking escape. The cottage is gorgeous — beautifully refurbished, warm, and full of character. We walked the beach to Bamburgh every day and treated ourselves to cream teas at the Copper Kettle in the village. The Ocean Club Spa was perfect for tired legs in the evenings. Location is unbeatable — everything is on your doorstep. We're already planning a return trip.
The Patels - April 2026 — What a find! Seahouses is brilliant for little ones and Eider Cottage is just perfect — cosy, safe and incredibly well equipped. The children were obsessed with the harbour and watching the seals. We grabbed ice cream from the seafront stalls every afternoon. Having our own parking space made life so much easier with a toddler and all the gear. The twin room was great for the kids. Five stars without hesitation.
Rob & Fiona - April 2026 — We spent a wonderful week exploring Northumberland's incredible heritage. Lindisfarne and Bamburgh Castle were both breathtaking, and Alnwick is only half an hour away. Coming back each evening to Eider Cottage was a real pleasure — the living room is so warm and inviting. We had a lovely dinner at the Bamburgh Castle Inn. The cottage is beautifully presented and Chris is an outstanding host. Truly special.
Callum - April 2026 - Seahouses is a cracking spot for outdoor adventures and Eider Cottage is the ideal base. Surfing at Beadnell Bay, kitesurfing at Budle Bay, cold-water swimming off the beach — this coastline has it all. The cottage is modern, clean and really comfortable — exactly what you want when you've been out in the North Sea all day! Grabbed post-surf chips from the harbour every evening. Brilliant value, brilliant location.
Jean & Norman - March 2026 — We chose Eider Cottage for our wedding anniversary and it was absolutely the right decision. The cottage felt genuinely luxurious — the master bedroom with its wall panelling is beautiful, and the whole place has been refurbished to a very high standard. We had a celebratory drinks at the Olde Ship Inn and spent our days walking the coastal path towards Bamburgh in the sunshine. Magical and memorable. Thank you, Chris!

Milk & Honey is also well worth a visit for ice cream. The cottage had all the facilities we needed and felt comfortable and homely.
