About Us

Escape to the North is a small, independent family run business. Our mission is to transform historic buildings and breathe new life into them for the modern holidaymaker.

Over the last few years we have worked hard to renovate a handful of buildings steeped in history.

Our properties in Beadnell, Northumberland were the original ‘Town’ farm site in the area. The Old Farmhouse was one of the first dwellings in Beadnell, built around 400 years ago, and previously owned by Northumberland gentry, the Craster and Forster families.

In Seahouses we have converted part of the world famous Swallow Fish Smokehouse into a cosy traditional 2 bedroom cottage, a 20 second walk to the seafront and historic Seahouses harbour. A smokery has been operated on this site since 1843 and is credited as one of the places where the modern kipper was invented.

Our properties in Bellingham have been the village’s: original bank, a green grocers for the market square, and even a jail cell on Lock Up Lane!
